Xiaomi has announced the WinPlay service for HyperOS, which will allow playing Windows games on an Android tablet without an Internet connection.
WinPlay is not a cloud-based service for streaming games. It allows users to run Windows software directly on the device without a network connection through virtualization. Xiaomi noted that when using WinPlay, the loss of GPU performance is only 2.9%.
WinPlay will also support the connection of controllers and the installation of Steam. However, support for Steam does not mean that all games on the platform will be able to run – even the SteamOS operating system itself has problems with launching some projects.
Xiaomi has now launched WinPlay testing in China for Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 users. The date of the service’s release from the beta version and its possible launch on the global market are not yet known.
