EV Prices Too High? New Citroen eC3X Starts at Just ₹6.89 Lakh With BaaS Option

Citroen has introduced the updated 2026 eC3 EV with a new name, the Citroen eC3X. Along with the new branding, the electric hatchback gets several feature upgrades, including a coloured TFT display, 6 airbags, and full LED lighting.

  1. The SUV now offers 79 km more claimed range, while retaining the same battery pack.
  2. Meanwhile, the exterior has been updated with LED headlights, fresh alloy wheel designs, and powered ORVMs.
  3. Inside, buyers get a new driver’s display, six airbags, a wireless charger, and JBL speakers for a more premium experience.

2026 Citroen eC3X: What’s new?

The 2026 Citroen eC3X is priced from Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 1.74 lakh more affordable than the outgoing model. In addition, Citroen is offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. This scheme lowers the vehicle’s starting price to Rs 6.29 lakh, while customers pay a battery rental charge of Rs 2.26 per kilometre. The new eC3X is available in three variants: Live, Live (O), and Shine.

One of the biggest highlights is the improved driving range. Although the EV continues with the same 29.2kWh battery pack, the claimed range has increased by 79km to 320km on a single charge. Furthermore, the model now comes with LED headlights, redesigned alloy wheels, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. Inside, buyers get a new driver’s display, six airbags, a wireless phone charger, and an optional JBL audio system.

What Is Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)?

The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model separates battery costs from vehicle prices. As a result, customers can buy the EV at a lower upfront cost and pay for the battery through a subscription or financing plan. This makes EV ownership more accessible for budget-conscious buyers.

In terms of design, the Citroen eC3X combines compact dimensions with crossover-inspired styling. It features LED headlamps, split LED daytime running lights, front fog lamps, exclusive X badging, diamond-cut 15-inch alloy wheels, and front and rear skid plates. Moreover, the EV gets electrically adjustable and auto-folding outside mirrors along with 170mm of ground clearance.

Citroen also claims a tight turning radius of just 4.98 metres, making city driving easier. At the same time, the brand’s signature suspension setup and comfort-focused seats continue to enhance ride quality. Since the vehicle is powered entirely by an electric motor, passengers can enjoy a smooth, vibration-free, and quiet driving experience.

For 2026, Citroen has also upgraded the climate control system to better suit Indian weather conditions. According to the company, cooling performance has been improved, especially during extreme summer temperatures. Buyers can choose from 6 exterior colours: Polar White, Steel Grey, Cosmo Blue, Perla Nera Black, Garnet Red, and Deep Forest Green. The Citroen eC3X continues to lock horns with the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet.

Inside the cabin, the refreshed eC3X features a new white-and-blue dual-tone interior theme. It also comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, wireless charging, and Citroen Connected Car Technology 2.0. Safety has also improved with six airbags now offered as standard. Additionally, customers can opt for a dual dashcam setup and a JBL premium sound system.

Powering the 2026 Citroen eC3X is the same 29.2kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor producing 56bhp and 143Nm of torque. While the battery remains unchanged, efficiency improvements have helped extend the claimed driving range to 320km. Moreover, DC fast-charging support allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes, making longer journeys more convenient.
