Scoop! Ather Konarc to Get S & Q Variants, Up to 200 km Range

Ather Energy is preparing to launch its new electric scooter, the Konarc, on August 29. Ahead of the launch, new details have surfaced about its variants, battery options, range, charging setup, and other features.

The Ather Konarc will be based on the EL platform and is expected to be available in six variants: four S variants and two Q variants. These are likely to be named SR1, SR2, SR3, SR4, QR2, and QR3. The scooter will use a new ‘Bedrock’ battery, available in different capacities. Depending on the battery pack, the Konarc is expected to offer IDC-certified ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 160 km, and up to 200 km.

The electric scooter is also expected to feature a built-in 450W charger with a cable that can be plugged directly into a power socket. Buyers may also get an additional 450W charger. Using both chargers together could provide a combined charging output of 900W, allowing the battery to charge from 0 to 80% in around two hours.

According to the information available, the Konarc’s drivetrain is expected to be much quieter than other Ather models. It reportedly will not produce the noticeable motor whine found on some existing scooters. The service interval is expected to be set at one year or 10,000 km, whichever comes first.

Six Variants Planned

According to the leaked details, the Ather Konarc is expected to come in six variants. The lineup could include four S variants, SR1, SR2, SR3 and SR4, along with two higher-spec Q variants, QR2 and QR3. This wide range of options could allow Ather to target buyers with different budgets and range needs.

The multiple-variant strategy could also help the Konarc compete in the popular family electric scooter segment. It will face established rivals such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 and Hero Vida VX2, which already offer buyers different battery and range options.

New Bedrock Battery With Up to 200 km IDC Range

One of the key highlights of the Ather Konarc is its new ‘Bedrock’ battery. The electric scooter is expected to come with multiple battery options, offering IDC-certified ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 160 km and up to 200 km, depending on the variant.

This wider range of battery choices could give buyers more flexibility than Ather’s current lineup. It may also help the company appeal to both daily city commuters and riders who need a longer range for extended journeys. While the exact battery capacities have not been officially revealed, Ather has previously confirmed that its EL platform can support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh.
