Hyundai Ioniq V Revealed with 66.8 kWh Battery and Up to 620 km Range

The Hyundai Ioniq V electric fastback, developed by the Beijing Hyundai joint venture, has been officially unveiled. It comes with a 66.8 kWh LFP battery that delivers up to 620 km of CLTC range. The 4.9-meter-long model will enter the Chinese market in 2026. In addition, it features a massive 27-inch display and a 168 kW (225 hp) electric motor.

The Ioniq V made its official debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show as Hyundai looks to strengthen its position in China. However, the brand continues to face challenges in the market. According to China EV DataTracker, Hyundai delivered 6,500 vehicles in China in May, marking an 8.9% year-over-year decline. Before its official reveal, the Ioniq V had already been spotted testing on Chinese roads.

In terms of design, the Ioniq V remains very close to Hyundai’s Venus concept. Finished in Radiant Gold, it features a sharp wedge-shaped silhouette and clean body lines. As a result, the car has a strong 1970s-inspired appearance. It also carries subtle styling cues reminiscent of the iconic Lamborghini Countach.

At the same time, the Ioniq V signals a new design direction for Hyundai. The company has moved away from its well-known “parametric pixel” design language. Instead, it introduces a new “edge lighting” system that blends seamlessly with the bodywork. Nevertheless, a small pixel-inspired detail remains in the center of the steering wheel.

Inside, the standout feature is a huge 27-inch 4K panoramic display that stretches across the dashboard. It controls most vehicle functions, creating a cleaner cabin layout. Meanwhile, traditional gauges have been removed. Driving information is displayed through a head-up display instead. Although Hyundai has not shared all technical specifications yet, the company has confirmed a driving range of more than 600 km under the CLTC test cycle.

The long-range version of the Hyundai Ioniq V uses a 66.8 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL. This battery works with a 168 kW (225 hp) electric motor. As a result, the vehicle achieves a CLTC range of 620–650 km. The battery pack weighs 465 kg, while the vehicle’s curb weight ranges from 1,782 kg to 1,808 kg. Furthermore, Hyundai plans to introduce an EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) variant in the future.

Beyond performance, the Ioniq V also focuses on practicality. Hyundai claims it offers 1,019 mm of rear legroom. Consequently, it provides more rear passenger space than rivals such as the Tesla Model Y and BYD Seal.

Dimensionally, the Hyundai Ioniq V measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height. It rides on a 2,900 mm wheelbase. The sleek exterior features a bonnet that flows seamlessly into the windshield. Other highlights include semi-hidden door handles and split headlamps.

Inside the cabin, the large 27-inch dual-screen setup remains the centerpiece. Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with a Momenta-developed assisted driving system and an advanced 800V high-voltage architecture, enhancing both convenience and charging performance.
