Hyundai has recently launched the all-new fourth-generation Hyundai i20 in Brazil with several major updates. Most importantly, the hatchback is now based on the K3 platform, which supports advanced technologies and multiple powertrain options. While the Brazilian-spec model currently offers two 1.0-litre Flex petrol engine options, Hyundai could introduce a 48V mild-hybrid or even a full hybrid (HEV) system in the future. However, the level of electrification will depend on the specific market.

In fact, the updated Hyundai i20 is expected to receive a 48V mild-hybrid setup similar to the one already available in the Kia Stonic in Brazil. At present, the i20 uses a 1.0-litre turbocharged flex-fuel petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 172 Nm of torque. If Hyundai adopts the Stonic’s hybrid system, the hatchback could feature a 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo GDI engine paired with a 48V battery. As a result, output could increase to 120 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Furthermore, this setup would likely be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, improving both fuel efficiency and overall performance.
In terms of size, the new Hyundai i20 measures approximately 4.13 metres in length and 1.78 metres in width. It also rides on a 2,580 mm wheelbase and offers 346 litres of boot space. Consequently, its dimensions place it closer to compact crossover territory than a traditional hatchback. In addition, Hyundai has increased the ground clearance. Extensive black body cladding around the wheel arches, bumpers, and side skirts further enhances its rugged appearance.

Inside the cabin, one of the standout features is the dual 12.3-inch display setup for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Moreover, Hyundai’s larger K3-based models, such as the Creta, are expected to receive the new Pleos infotainment and connectivity platform. Meanwhile, the new i20 comes equipped with an advanced multimedia system that includes embedded connectivity through a 5G chip.
Safety has also received significant attention. The updated i20 now offers a more comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, helping improve driver awareness and passenger protection. Additionally, the new K3 platform uses a greater proportion of high-strength steel, enhancing structural rigidity. As a result, the latest i20 promises a safer, stronger, and more confidence-inspiring driving experience.
