Top 10 EVs Available with BaaS Scheme in India (2026)

One of the biggest challenges to electric vehicle adoption is their higher price compared to petrol and diesel cars. To solve this issue, brands like Hyundai, Citroen, JSW-MG, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Tata Motors, and Toyota now offer EVs with a BaaS Scheme. With this option, you pay a subscription for the battery pack instead of buying it up front. As a result, the initial purchase cost becomes much lower.

Key Highlights

• Lower Upfront Cost: You only pay for the car body, making your initial investment significantly lower.
• Battery Maintenance Covered: The service provider handles battery health and replacements.
• Pay-Per-Use: Most plans charge a flat rate per kilometer, allowing you to pay based on how much you actually drive.
• Future Proof: You avoid the risk of battery degradation, as the provider ensures the battery stays in top condition.

What is BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service)?

Battery as a Service (BaaS) is a financing model where you purchase the electric vehicle without owning the battery. Instead, you pay a monthly subscription or pay per kilometre for battery usage. This lowers the vehicle’s purchase price and makes EV ownership affordable for first-time buyers.

How does BaaS work?

• Buy the vehicle chassis at a reduced price.
• Choose a monthly battery subscription.
• Pay according to your usage.
• Battery warranty remains covered under the subscription.
